StartNet is the infrastructure behind Tamil Nadu’s AI-driven startup ecosystem: one platform, one lab programme, one education ladder, one venture studio and two annual gatherings, all under one roof.

Our story

We build the infrastructure. Founders build the companies.

StartNet started with a simple observation: Tamil Nadu had the talent, the government support and the ambition to build a world-class AI startup ecosystem. What it did not have was the connective infrastructure to make all three compound.

So we built it as one house with five doors: an account every founder has through StartNet X, two flagship gatherings through StartNet Connect, an accreditation route for colleges through StartNet Research, a ladder from student to builder through StartNet Vibe, and the products we build with industry through StartNet AI.

Each door stands on its own name and its own numbers. Together, on one account, they are the operating system for building an AI company in Tamil Nadu.

The AI Flywheel

A ladder is not a flywheel. A loop is.

Physical AI, deployed in a real poultry shed or a real knitting floor, generates data no public corpus contains. That data makes Perception better, and Perception is where the next turn starts.

  1. Stage 1 Perception Sensing and vision: the stage every deployment starts from, and the one the legacy material skipped.
  2. Stage 2 Generative Language and content: Jensen Huang’s CES 2025 progression, credited rather than silently reused.
  3. Stage 3 Agentic Tool use and orchestration: agents that act, not just answer.
  4. Stage 4 Physical Deployed in a real poultry shed or a real knitting floor, where the loop actually closes.
  5. Stage 5 Data Real-world data no public corpus contains, feeding straight back into Perception. That loop is what makes it a flywheel, not a ladder.

Stages two to four are Jensen Huang’s CES 2025 progression, credited rather than claimed as our own. Closing the loop from Data back into Perception is StartNet’s contribution, and it is the argument for why an ecosystem body in an industrial state has an advantage a lab in a metro does not.

Every number carries a tag and a date

Or it does not go on the site. In a market where every ecosystem body publishes round numbers nobody checks, being the one that publishes checkable numbers is the strategy, not a compliance posture.

Domain-specific products, not domain-specific models

GPT-4 beat a 50-billion-parameter model purpose-built on financial data, with zero financial pretraining. We train small vision and tabular models, rent the language layer, and own the data access.

A college buys an outcome, not equipment

A lab is a three-year operating contract, priced against a fee band and an accreditation score, not a capital purchase nobody can afford to run.

Every number, sourced and dated.

We do not publish a number we cannot source. Every figure below carries a confidence tag from the strategy’s own scheme (verified, self-reported, or estimated), and nothing else goes on this page.

A: verified Checked against a primary source: a government register, a published order, an audited filing.
B: reported An organisation’s own claim (ours included), published as exactly that, never dressed up as independently verified.
C: estimate An inference or a derived figure, marked as one, and never published as a quotation or a guarantee.

How a sixth door would happen

Five is the ceiling, and there is a gate.

  1. Condition 1 A named full-time owner who is not the founder.
  2. Condition 2 A named, priced, sold revenue line covering at least 60% of its own first-year cost.
  3. Condition 3 A one-page charter: who it serves, what it costs, four ways it fails, five conditions under which it is closed.
  4. Condition 4 A one-sentence mechanism naming what it gives another StartNet brand. "Synergy" is not a mechanism.
  5. Condition 5 An independence test: does it share its customer, its funder and its people with an existing brand? If yes, it is that brand wearing a second hat.
